Brow Lift

With age, your skin starts to droop; wrinkles form and natural folds deepen. This can be particularly noticeable in your forehead, where the loss of underlying support to the skin can result in your eyebrows falling below their normal position, increasing the droop of the upper eyelids and giving you an angry or tired expression.  A brow lift can help restore a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Procedure

A brow lift involves removing excess forehead skin and repositioning your eyebrows through incisions in either the hairline or just at the eyebrow.

You will have a faint scar line from the incision that will, in most cases, concealed by your hair or eyebrows.

Are You a Good Candidate?

You may benefit from a brow lift if you have:

  • Sagging eyebrows that give you a consistently angry, sad, or tired appearance
  • Deep forehead wrinkles
  • Furrows between your eyebrows

Your Consultation

Your first step will be to have a detailed consultation with Dr MacDonald where she will listen to your goals and concerns and complete a careful examination. Then, Dr. MacDonald will discuss the treatment options that best address your concerns and particular situation.

Dr. MacDonald and her staff will:

  • Give you detail information about the surgery and what you can expect before, during, and after the procedure
  • Discuss any concerns or questions that you may have
  • Discuss potential risks of the procedure

Surgery

The surgery requires a general anaesthetic so you must complete a pre-operative questionnaire to ensure you are ready. You will be given instructions on what time to arrive and be reminded not to eat or drink anything the night before.

Brow-lift surgery takes approximately two hours and you will then spend around three hours in the recovery room, so set aside the whole day for the procedure. Then you will be given a prescription for pain medication before leaving the hospital.

Recovery

You will need someone to drive you home from the hospital and stay with you for the first 24 hours of recovery.

Cost

The surgery suited best for you will be discussed at the time of consultation and Dr MacDonald’s assistant will e-mail you a detailed cost breakdown.
